Use PBS Markup Rules for UnderCo Prescriptions
This setting will affect how UnderCo PBS prescriptions are priced.
- Always Use PBS Markup Rules - prices all PBS prescription by using the maximum general patient charge from PBS.
- Only When no Drug Specific Price is Set - prices prescriptions by using store set pricing from POS Works and will only use PBS pricing when there is no set price in POS Works. This ensures there is always a price attached to a prescription.
Use PBS Markup Rules for Increased Discount Range (IDR) Prescriptions
This setting determines how prescriptions that fall within the Increased Discount Range (DPMQ between $30.00 and $45.60) are priced.
- Always Use PBS Markup Rules - all prescriptions that have a DPMQ within the IDR will be priced using the PBS Markup rules and will have a patient charge of $30.00, excluding brand premiums.
- Only When no Drug Specific Price is Set - prices IDR prescriptions using store set pricing from POS Works and will only use PBS pricing when there is no set price in POS Works. If the store set price is above the maximum general patient charge of $30.00, then the PBS pricing rules will apply.
Minimum Patient Contribution
The Minimum Patient Contribution is the lowest dollar amount charged for a prescription (up to the maximum allowable General Patient Charge for PBS medicines).
For example, if the Minimum Patient Contribution is set to $6.80 and you dispense 5 x Prednisolone tablets, the patient price will not go below $6.80. The price can still be manually adjusted to a lower value if desired (Under-Co Pay or NonPBS prescriptions).
Exclude S3 Items
This setting is applicable when dispensing an item using the S3 button in Other Supplies.
When Exclude S3 Items is enabled, the dispensed price will reflect the POS Works Set Price. If this setting is not enabled, the dispensed price will default to either the POS Works Set Price or the Minimum Patient Contribution, whichever amount is larger - i.e., if the Minimum Patient Contribution is set to $9.99 and the POS Works Set Price is $4.99, the patient price will default to $9.99.

PBS Surcharge
Note: This setting is only applicable if Always Use PBS Markup Rules is selected - see Use PBS Markup Rules for UnderCo Prescriptions above.
The PBS Surcharge is an optional additional charge to general patients if a PBS item has a dispensed price for maximum quantity that is less than the general patient co-payment.
For example, if you have no set PBS Surcharge value i.e. $0.00 and you are dispensing a standard pack of Atorvastatin 10mg, the patient price will be $15.28. If the $4.54 is added, then the patient price becomes the maximum allowable general patient price of $19.82 (correct dollar values as of July 2022).
For more information see Allowable additional patient charge on the PBS 'Fees, Patient Contributions and Safety Net Thresholds' website.
Global Dollar Discount
Enabling this option will allow the dollar discount to be applied to eligible prescriptions. Using the drop-down menu, selected groups of scripts/patients can be excluded from receiving the dollar discount.
In addition to the global dollar discounting setting, Dispense Works gives you the option to apply dollar discounting rules to DAA facilities (see Dose Administration Aids) and to individual patients (see Patient Preferences)
Note: Dispense Works applies the dollar discount in the following order of priority: Patient > Facility > Store Settings.

Automatically Apply Previous Dispense Price to New Prescription
When this setting is enabled, the Previous Dispense Price for the item being dispensed will be applied to the current dispensing i.e., if the last price was a custom patient price (e.g., price match) that same price will be applied to the current prescription. If the setting is disabled, the POS Works Set Price will be applied to all items.
Focus To Patient Price When Previous Dispense Price is Automatically Applied
When this setting is enabled, the focus will go from the directions field to the patient price field if the Automatically apply Previous Dispense Price to new prescription setting is enabled. If this setting is disabled, the focus will go from the directions field to the initials field.
