Dose Administration Aids
Facilities may be created to group together patients that belong to different nursing homes, or patients belonging to different groups of a pharmacy's Dose Administration Aid (DAA) packing schedule. When using packing software integrated with Dispense Works, patients must be added to facilities for the integration to function.

Create a Facility
To create a new facility in Dispense Works:
1.In the Dose Administration Aids screen, select the appropriate packing software from the drop-down list

2.Create new facility
3.Fill in required facility details – RACF is required for Medication Chart Dispensing

4.Click save facility – this will open up the wards window where individual wards can be added to the facility
5.Click on new ward
6.Type in a name for the ward in the ward name field

7.Click save ward – once a ward has been created, patients can be added. (repeat steps to create additional wards)

Add Patients to a Facility
1.Select the ward you would like to add patients to
2.Search for a patient in the Add Patient field by typing in their Family Name followed by their Given Name - it does not need to be their full name

3.Use the [Up] and [Down] arrows or your mouse to scroll through the results if required
4.Press [Enter] or double-click to select a patient
- Repeat steps 2-4 to add multiple patients into the ward

5.Click Save Patients to register the patient(s) to the selected ward and facility*
Note: The Save Patients button must be clicked to add the patient to the facility.
When a patient is selected (Step 4 above), the Save checkbox will be ticked - this indicates that the patient is not yet saved to the facility. Once Save Patients has been clicked, the checkbox will no longer be ticked, indicating that the patient has been saved to the facility.

Note: Patients can also be added into a facility via Patient Maintenance [F8] by selecting the facility from the drop-down under DAA Facility.
Edit a Facility
Within a facility, you can change the facility details, change the packing software, edit or delete wards, and add or remove patients from wards.
Change Packing Software
When converting from one packing software to another, you can change over the Packing Company within the Facility.
To change the Packing Company for a DAA Facility:
1.Select the required facility and click Edit Facility or double-click to select
2.Select the required Packing Company from the drop-down list

3.Click Save Facility - this will do a full patient import, including scripts, to the required database if the integration has been set up
Note: When changing packing company, ensure the integration is enabled in Tools > Integrations > Packing Companies. See Packing Software for more information.
DAA Facility Features
There are a number of features available in the Facility Details that help with dispensing prescriptions for the patients within these facilities. See below.

Offsite Packing
The offsite packing toggle is used when SOH should not automatically move during the dispensing process.
When dispensing for certain patients where SOH should not move, ensure that:
1.The patient has been added to a facility
2.The facility has Offsite Packing enabled
This will enable a pop-up to appear when dispensing a script for that patient, which asks users whether they want to move stock.
Note: During Batch Dispensing this pop-up will not appear and stock will automatically not be removed from stock.
Print Owing Notice and Script Reminder
When enabled an owing notice or a new script reminder will automatically print when an owing or last repeat is dispensed for patients in the facility.
Dollar Discount
Facilities in Dispense Works can be configured with a dollar discount preference. The default setting for this feature is Global.
Note: Dispense Works applies the dollar discount in the following order of priority: Patient > Facility > Store Settings.
Batch Address Labels
Dispense Works can print address labels for all patients in a selected ward within a facility. This may be useful when preparing deliveries for a facility or for DAAs.
To batch print Address Labels:
1.Select the required facility and click Edit Facility or double-click to select
2.If there is more than 1 Ward in the Facility then select the correct Ward
3.Click on the Print Address Labels button
